Earlier today, I purcheased a pack of two Iphone cables from a local Walmart. When I got home and put my phone on charge, everything seemed to be fine, accept that my phone was charging much slower than if I was using an apple cable. When I noticed this, I removed my phone from the cable, and asked my neighbor to take a look at it. The package listed what types of IOS devices the lightning cables could be used with, but my neighbor was unable to find anything on the package saying that the cables were certified to work with apple devices. I know there is a name for the certification, but I forget what it is now. I only used this cable for a few hours. My question is, has my phone or the battery gotten damaged in any way? And if so, what can I do to correct the problem?

Ask a sighted person to identify if there is a MFi certify cable or not. if it is a MFi certify cable, then it is safe to use. otherwise, the only suggestion and only thing you can do is to stop using the cable and bring the cable back for refun.

What does the Mfi logo look like? I'm going to have somebody in a cellphone store look at it tomorrow.

You've not damaged your phone. Cables directly say Apple Certified here. If its difficult to know, I just don't buy that cable.
Apple is running a battery replacement probram now that allows older iPhone users to get a new battery free of charge. I don't know your model, but why not learn if that is possible for you?
It can't hurt to have a new one just because you can, right?
Smile.
Also, just pay the money. Buy a quality cable, its worth that extra few dollars. It is the one thing I just have learned is best purchased at the price offered.

I have an Iphone SE that is just over a year old. The closest apple store to me is about an hour and a half away in a mall.

Just as a side note, the term here is knock off, or off brand. Counterfit would
be someone claiming they're genuine apple cords, as in, putting the apple logo
and brand on them. Most likely, given that you bought them fro walmart, what
happened was you went with the cheaper option of cord. Its fine, I do it myself
sometimes, but they're not counterfeit. I'm pointing this out because that can
actually be a damaging word to use in some cases, so you should be careful
with it. Off brand and counterfeit aren't the same thing, one is illegal.

If you want good off brand iphone charger cords, there are several at varying
price points. My favorite, other than expensive steel cables, are the ones coated
in nylon or paracord. They seem to last longer for me than the apple cords do,
and they're a fraction of the cost.

You can order online easily from Apple if you wished.
You can even call and order if you can't work the website.
Amazon sells good quality cables at lower prices.
Even Walmart, but the advantage of ordering online from Walmart is you can see exactly what you're buying. You don't have to ask to make sure.
In many cases you even get free shipping, so.
If you can make that trip, it be worth that new battery.
Call them to learn if your phones on the list. I think its 6S and down, but I might be wrong and even the 7 is included.

I bought a different charger from a cellphone store in the mall today. Its made by Belkan, if I'm spelling that right, and has what I think is the nylon chord.

You can't go wrong with amazon basics. I have used their lightning chargers for
years. Another good one is anchor.

That's a good brand. They make quality cables, so you're good.
